  • The best time for family photos is typically during golden hour, which is the hour before sunset. The light is soft, flattering, and gives photos that warm, glowing look. For families with little ones who have earlier bedtimes, I also offer morning sessions with beautiful natural light.

In Michigan, the most popular months for family sessions are May through October, especially during fall color season.

  • I recommend choosing soft, neutral colors and coordinating rather than matching. Creams, soft blues, warm neutrals, and muted earth tones photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your family connection.

    A few tips:

    • Avoid large logos or busy patterns

    • Mix textures like knits, linen, or denim

    • Choose outfits that allow movement and comfort

After booking, you'll receive a styling guide to help make outfit planning simple.

  • Family sessions can take place at beautiful outdoor locations throughout Michigan, such as parks, lakeshore areas, fields, or wooded trails. I have a list of favorite locations that photograph beautifully in every season.

If you prefer something more personal, we can also do in-home lifestyle sessions for a cozy and meaningful setting.

  • This is the most common concern parents have, and I promise it's completely normal. Kids are not expected to sit still and smile the whole time.

My sessions are designed to be playful and relaxed. I guide families through movement, games, and natural interaction so we capture genuine smiles and connection instead of forced poses.

Some of the sweetest images happen in the in-between moments.

  • Most family sessions last 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the package you choose. This is usually the perfect amount of time to keep kids engaged while still capturing a variety of images.

  • Your gallery will be delivered within 6 weeks after your session. They will likely be delivered before 6 weeks! You'll receive a private online gallery where you can download, share, and order prints.

  • Absolutely! Dogs are part of the family too. Just let me know ahead of time so we can choose a pet-friendly location and plan accordingly.

  • Michigan weather can be unpredictable. If rain or extreme weather is in the forecast, we will reschedule your session to the next available date with good lighting and conditions.

  • Fall family sessions fill quickly, so I recommend booking 1–2 months in advance, especially for September and October.
